Get a feel for the history of Fairfax and the regions beyond at the Fairfax Museum and Visitors Center, where displays on the history of the city and information on modern hotspots are both available to visitors. The "Fairfax Story" exhibit is always on display, offering a general overview of local history, while rotating exhibitions of items like quilts, postcards, documents and more provide detailed glimpses into various aspects of past lifestyles. About a mile north of George Mason University, the museum is also just a few miles away from the National Firearms Museum.
